Aromatherapy Applications:
Use to calm breathing, for high blood pressure, and to treat impotence (frigidity). Ylang-Ylang means 'Flower of Flowers' and is an exotic, aphrodisiac floral. It is available in 3 distillations, from the Extra, which is the most floral to the Ylang-Ylang III, which is more bourbon-like in scent.
Characteristics:
A pale yellow, oily liquid with a rich, floral-balsamic, slightly spicy, bourbon-like scent, with depth and richness. It blends well with rosewood, jasmine, vetiver, opopanax, bergamot, mimosa, cinnamon, balsam Peru, rose, tuberose, labdanum, and others. It is excellent to tone down the sweetness of high-floral blends.
Principal Constituents:
Methyl benzoate, methyl salicylate, methyl paracretol, benzyl acetate, eugenol, geraniol, linalol, terpenes, pinene, cadinene.
General Actions:
Aphrodisiac, antidepressant, anti-infectious, antiseborrheic, antiseptic, euphoric, hypotensive, nervine, regulator, sedative (nervous), stimulant (circulatory), tonic.
Safety:
Non-toxic, non-irritant, a few cases of sensitization reported.
