Aromatherapy Applications:
Use as a powerful antiseptic, bacteria killer, and virucide. Inhale for respiratory problems, asthma, bronchitis, and viral and bacterial pneumonia.
Characteristics:
A pale yellow liquid (browning with age), with a warm, spicy-herbaceous, camphoraceous odor. It blends well with lavender, oakmoss, pine, citronella, rosemary, camphor, and cedarwood.
Principal Constituents:
Carvacrol, thymol, cymene, caryophyllene, pinene, bisabolene, linalol, borneol, geranyl acetate, linalyl acetate, terpinene.
General Actions:
Analgesic, anthelmintic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, choleretic, cytophylactic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, fungicidal, parasiticide, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic.
Safety:
Dermal toxin, skin irritant, mucous membrane irritant. Avoid during pregnancy.
Primary Therapy Agent:
True oregano oil is primarily a blood purifier; however, due to being a dermal toxin and skin irritant, it is difficult to use in aromatherapy applications. Use only in extremely diluted quantities.
Secondary Therapy Agent:
No specific therapeutic uses.
