Aromatherapy Applications:
Use as a soothing aid for indigestion, wind, and colic, especially in children, for which it is still current in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia.
Characteristics:
A colorless or pale yellow mobile liquid with a powerful, sweet-spicy aroma. It blends well with elemi, mints, caraway seed, nutmeg, spice and citrus oils.
Principal Constituents:
Carvone, limonene, pinene, terpinene.
General Actions:
Antispasmodic, bactericidal, carminative, digestive, emmenagogue, galactagogue, hypotensive, stimulant, stomachic.
Safety:
Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, nonsensitizing.
Primary Therapy Agent:
Griping pains.
Secondary Therapy Agent:
Colic, amenorrhea, lack of nursing milk. |
