Aromatherapy Applications:
Use in facial steam mixtures to stimulate the complexion: a favored treatment for pale-complected persons to give their skin a healthy glow.
Characteristics:
The oil is colorless to pale yellow, with a strong, warm, sweet-spicy odor, like rye bread. It blends well with jasmine, cinnamon and other spices; however, it easily overpowers other oils. Use sparingly in blends.
Principal Constituents:
Carvone, limonene, carveol, dihydrocarveol, dihydrocarvone, pinene, phellandrene.
General Actions:
Antihistamine, antimicrobial, antiseptic, aperitif, astringent, carminative, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, galactagogue, larvicidal, stimulant, spasmolytic, stomachic, tonic, vermifuge.
Safety:
Non-toxic, nonsensitizing; may cause dermal irritation in concentration.
Primary Therapy Agent:
Dull and sluggish complexions, indigestion, flatulence.
Secondary Therapy Agent:
Bronchitis, coughs, laryngitis, hoarseness, colic, cramp, gastric spasm, loss of appetite, colds/flu. |
