Aromatherapy Applications:
More intensely aromatic than the sweet orange essential oil, Blood Orange adds a rich, sparkling, intensely citrus note to blends, but for orange lovers it is great when used alone.
Characteristics:
A yellowy-orange or dark orange mobile liquid with a sweet, fresh-fruity scent, richer than Orange Sweet. It blends well with lavender, orange blossom, lemon, clary sage, myrrh and spice oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.
Principal Constituents:
Monoterpenes (over 90%), limonene, bergapten, auraptenol, acids.
General Actions:
Antidepressant, anit-inflammatory, antiseptic, bactericidal, carminative, choleretic, digestive, fungicidal, hypotensive, sedative (nervous), stimulant (digestive and lymphatic), stomachic, tonic.
Safety:
Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. Avoid use in prolonged sunlight exposure.
