Aromatherapy Applications:
Use for flatulent indigestion and externally for neuralgic or rheumatic pain. Great as a holiday scent: it smells like a combination of cloves, juniper berries, and cinnamon.
Characteristics:
Pimenta berry oil is a pale yellow liquid with a powerful sweet, warm, balsamic-spicy bodynote and a fresh, clean top note. It blends well with ginger, geranium, lavender, opopanax, labdanum, ylang-ylang, patchouli, orange blossom, oriental and spicy bases.
Principal Constituents:
Eugenol, methyl eugenol, cineol, phellandrene, caryophyllene.
General Actions:
Anesthetic, analgesic, antioxidant, antiseptic, carminative, relaxant, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic.
Safety:
Eugenol irritates the mucous membranes, and has been found to cause dermal irritation. Pimenta berry oil should be used with care in low dilutions only.
Primary Therapy Agent:
Muscular cramp, muscle stiffness, rheumatism, cramp, gastric spasm, indigestion, flatulence.
Secondary Therapy Agent:
Arthritis, debility/poor muscle tone, depression, nervous exhaustion, fatigue, stress-related conditions. |
